Fab Freebie: Be Jeweled

***This giveaway has reached is now closed – see who won below!***

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! And an especially happy one to our randomly selected, lucky winner who goes by the name of… Oona (who will likely celebrate tonight with dinner at “a lovely vegan restaurant”). Congrats Oona!

We love celebrating Valentine’s Day with you guys by giving away some free jewelry, and this year Sherry’s especially stoked because the prize is coming from none other than Kendra Scott – one of her favorite places to request that I buy her earrings for various occasions (like the past two Christmases). Kendra Scott has definitely earned me a few husband points, so this (are you ready for it?) $500 gift card means that someone else out there can score major points from the one they love – or one lucky winner can grab her own jewels for herself. And probably have money leftover to share the wealth with a few friends or relatives. Oh and if you fancy yourself a Kendra Scott in the making, you can even use their Color Bar to customize several of their pieces. So yeah, Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

Kendra Scott Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A $500 gift card toward Kendra Scott
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “JEWEL ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …how you plan to celebrate (or not celebrate) Valentine’s Day this year. Is there a special date night in your future? Are you sending your kids off with backpacks filled with cards for classmates? Or are you just gonna treat it like any other Thursday?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, February 13th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway ships worldwide. Woot!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Kendra Scott.

    JEWEL ME!

I’ll be celebrating with my best friend, looking at art for an upcoming fundraiser. We’ll rank our favorite pieces and then on Sunday, cross our fingers that we’re able to walk away with one of our favorites. Thursday just happened to be the day that worked for both of our schedules, but I’m totally cool with spending Valentine’s Day with such a great friend!

Jewel Me! My husband and I are going to the Cincinnati Beer Fest (romantic, eh?) but I’m more excited about the little gift we got for our daughter – her very first set of character sheets for her big girl bed! I’m making her bed Thursday morning before I leave for work: Rapunzel sheets and pillow with a lovely pink and purple quilt my mom made ages ago that’s been sitting in my closet. I can’t wait for her to see it!

JEWEL ME! I traditionally make heart shaped food for dinner – quesidillas with pink sour cream, heart shaped tofu, etc. My girls have been working on foam valentine kits to bring into daycare for the class. And when I say “my girls have been working” I mean I have been working because I totally misjudged the complexity of the kit!

We both have to work all week (and in different cities) so we celebrated Valentines Day a little early this year. Nothing fancy, just dinner and a movie. We always gift each other a little something, but my gift’s still wrapped as I’m not allowed to open it until Thursday.

My husband and I try not Tobit things for each other although we sometimes do cards. There are tooooo many holidays requiring purchasing in mainstream America’s advertising culture. I will probably make him some peanut butter cookies because he loves them (and try not to eat half of them). He will probably give me a sweet card with a sweet note reflecting on who we are as a couple now (married almost 5 years with 1 toddler and twins on the way!) now that I think about it – I’m going to write him a love letter! Thanks for the contest. I just got inspired!

I haven’t done anything special for Valentine’s Day in 14 years, the very first year we were dating my husband got me a box of twinkies :-/ Mr. Romantic. This year I’m helping my daughter make home made valentines for preschool.

My husband and I do not go all out for Valentines’s Day but one thing we do enjoy doing on this holiday is playing Chocolate Truffle Roulette! We go to Godiva together and pick out a small box of Godiva truffles not knowing which flavors are in the box. We each take turns picking a truffle and tasting them. We have fun and get a good laugh at the weird faces we make when we pick a horrible tasting one. Or we get jealous when the other person picks one that that the other person wanted!
